Douro Valley Wineries Map: Quintas, Viewpoints and Stations by Area
This Douro Valley wineries map groups the quintas you can actually visit by area, from the walkable estates around Pinhão station to the hills of the Cima Corgo and the road east toward Tua. Each entry says what the place is, how far it sits from a rail station, what a tasting costs and if you need to book. For a deeper profile of each producer, the full guide to Douro Valley wineries covers the estates in detail. If you would rather skip the planning, a Douro Valley wine tour from Porto puts two estates, lunch and a river cruise into one day.

Quick answer How the map is organised
The map is organised by area, running east along the Douro from Régua, and Pinhão sits about 25 km east of Régua. Around Pinhão station three quintas are walkable, which makes the village the best base without a car. The hills of the Cima Corgo and the road east to Tua need a car, a taxi or a tour. The region as a whole covers about 250,000 hectares, of which roughly 43,800 are vines.
Key takeaways
- Three quintas sit within a 25 minute walk of Pinhão station, and the village itself is explained in the guide to Pinhão.
- The Régua side works well by train, and the timetable logic is set out in Porto to Douro Valley by train.
- Estate visits on foot often cost less than a tour, but a Douro Valley wine tour from Porto removes the booking work entirely.
- Viewpoints such as Casal de Loivos and São Leonardo de Galafura are pinned in the section on viewpoints below.

Around Pinhão
Pinhão is the map's walking cluster. Pinhão is about 25 km east of Régua, its station sits at km 118 of the Douro line, and the station hall carries 24 blue azulejo panels from 1937 showing the harvest and port production.
Quinta Do Bomfim
Quinta do Bomfim is the easiest quinta to reach on foot anywhere on the map, about 0.55 km in a straight line from Pinhão station. It is open daily 10:00 to 19:00 from 1 March to 31 October with the last visit at 17:30, and 09:30 to 18:30 in the winter months with the last visit at 17:00. It closes on 25 December and 1 January and shuts on 4 July for staff training.
Every tasting includes a guided visit, and the price list is on the Symington site. Book online or on +351 254 730 370.
Quinta Das Carvalhas
Quinta das Carvalhas is about 0.45 km from Pinhão station, so it is the closest walkable quinta on this map of Douro Valley wineries. The tasting room pours flights from €17 and opens 10:00 to 19:00 from April to October and 10:00 to 18:00 from November to March, closed 25 December. A €15 shuttle sightseeing tour runs at 10:00, 12:00, 15:00 and 17:00 from April to October.
Guided vineyard tours cost €48, the premium private tour €68 and the A Ruin with a View tasting €88, with children at €5.
Quinta Da Roêda (Croft)
Croft's Quinta da Roêda sits about 1.4 km from Pinhão station, a 20 to 25 minute walk along the river road. Tasting visits cost €20 Roêda, €30 Introduction to Croft, €33 Mixology, €40 Croft Tawny, €48 Wine Lover, €51.50 Terroir and €59.50 Connoisseur per person. A self-guided Discovery tour costs €11 alone or €27 with a tasting.
Slots run from 09:30 to 16:30 in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French, and Croft replies to online requests within 24 hours, so booking ahead is painless.
Quinta De La Rosa
Quinta de la Rosa lies about 1.1 km in a straight line west of Pinhão station on the opposite bank, so allow a taxi rather than a short stroll. The cheapest option is a 30 minute Wine Tour of the winery and port cellar at €10 in English or Portuguese. The one hour Wine Tour and Tasting costs €25 with 2 DOC wines and 2 ports, the Winemaker's Lunch is €50 for 2.5 hours, and the Vale do Inferno exclusive tour walks terraces built before World War I at €140.
Reserve on +351 254 732 254.
Quinta Do Noval Wine Shop
The Noval estate itself is by reservation only. For a casual stop, the Quinta do Noval wine shop at 15 Rua da Praia in Pinhão village is open 7 days a week from 10:30 to 19:00, no booking needed. The official Noval page lists the shop only and no estate prices, so ask when you reserve.
Rabelo Boats from Pinhão
Pinhão's river jetty is the starting point for the rabelo boat trips. A one hour rabelo trip from Pinhão to Romaneira and back costs €15 with Cruzeiros Douro, and both Cruzeiros Douro and Magnífico Douro sell a 2 hour Pinhão to Tua cruise at €30, and Cruzeiros Douro also sells a sunset cruise at €30. Magnífico Douro's office is open 9:00 to 18:00 daily with audio guides in 5 languages, and a private rabelo boat costs from €200 per hour.
The Régua Side
Régua is the western anchor of the map, where the IVDP, the regulator of Douro and Port wine, has its head office. It is also the town the OIV named International City of Vine and Wine.
Quinta Do Vallado
Quinta do Vallado at Peso da Régua is open daily 10:00 to 19:00, with English visits at 11:00, 14:30 and 16:30 and Portuguese visits at 12:00, 15:30 and 17:30. The wine tasting is from €35 per adult for 75 minutes with 5 wines and a virtual reality harvest, and children up to 12 are free. The port tasting is from €75 per adult for 2 hours with 6 ports plus chocolates and dried fruit.
Book at [email protected] or on +351 938 611 492.
Quinta Da Pacheca
Quinta da Pacheca sits at Cambres near Lamego and is open daily 10:00 to 19:00. The basic tour and tasting starts at €26 for 90 minutes with 2 Douro wines and 2 ports, and the tour with lunch starts at €91 for 3 hours. In harvest season a grape treading experience costs from €49 per person.
Note that a tour with lunch here costs extra, unlike most of the tours sold from Porto, where lunch is in the ticket price.
Quinta Dos Murças
Quinta dos Murças at Covelinhas near Régua is a rail-friendly pin, since Covelinhas is a Douro line station. The Douro Tasting costs €22 and the Terroir Tasting €45, each lasting 1 hour 30 minutes. An exclusive VV47 tasting with the winemaker runs €220 per person.
Visits need advance booking by email to [email protected] and are subject to confirmation, so write before you plan a day around it. The listed phone line is +351 254 402 680.
Solar Do Vinho Do Porto
The Solar do Vinho do Porto in Régua is a free-entry tasting house that the IVDP opened in 2004 in a restored 18th century manor at Rua da Ferreirinha. Entry is free and tastings are paid. Visit Portugal lists it Monday to Saturday 11:00 to 20:00 and closed Sundays and holidays, on +351 254 320 960, but another portal lists only Friday and Saturday afternoons.
The sources disagree, so call before a special trip. There is a bar, a shop and a garden.

The Hills and the East
East and uphill of Pinhão the quintas spread out along the plateau roads of the Cima Corgo and the Douro Superior. Almost every pin here needs a car, a taxi or a tour.
Quinta Do Crasto
Quinta do Crasto has about 135 hectares, 74 of them vines, on the right bank between Régua and Pinhão at Gouvinhas. It is open daily 10:00 to 18:00 and all visits are by prior booking on [email protected] or +351 254 106 086. The guided tour with a 5-wine tasting costs €41.96 per person for 90 minutes, for 1 to 10 guests aged 18 and over.
The superior tasting of 5 wines costs €79.71, and a harmonised visit and lunch runs €61.88 per person for 3 hours.
Quinta Nova
Quinta Nova at Covas do Douro names Ferrão station as its rail option, which is a 5 km straight-line distance from Pinhão. The 2 Terroirs Wine Tour and Tasting costs €42 and the Douro Reserve tour €70, each about 1 hour 30 minutes. Guided tours leave at 10:45, 12:15, 15:30 and 17:30 from April to October, dropping the 17:30 slot from November to March.
Groups cap at 25 and booking goes to [email protected] or +351 969 860 056. The tour ends at the Patamar wine bar with panoramic views.
Quinta Do Seixo (Sandeman)
Quinta do Seixo at Valença do Douro offers a €20 visit with 3 ports lasting 50 minutes, a €32 vineyard visit of 2 hours 30 minutes, and a €70 vineyard picnic from March to October. It sits 1 hour 47 minutes by car from central Porto, so it needs a car or a taxi from Pinhão. That puts it in the tour-and-car column of this map rather than the walking cluster.
Quinta Do Panascal (Fonseca)
Fonseca's Quinta do Panascal at Valença do Douro is open daily from 10:00 to 18:30 and is known for its self-guided audio tour in 9 languages, from Portuguese and English to Japanese. Tasting experiences run from €15 for the Classic to €60 for the Signature, with Introdução à Fonseca at €28 and Vintage at €35. Reserve on +351 932 640 072 or by email to [email protected].
Lunches and dinners are by reservation only, so a drop-in here covers the tour and the glass, not a meal.
Quinta Do Tedo
Quinta do Tedo sits in Armamar municipality on the river road, so a visit needs a car or a taxi from Pinhão. It is open daily 10:00 to 19:00 from April to October and 09:00 to 18:00 from November to March, closed 25 December and 1 January. The Tawny Porto Tasting costs €38 daily at 10:30 with Tawny 10, 20 and 30.
A tour plus Special Tasting runs €36 daily at 12:00 and 16:15 in winter or 17:15 in summer, and the tour plus barrel tasting costs €64 for a minimum of 2 people. Bookings are only confirmed once the quinta replies.
Quinta De São Luiz (Kopke)
Kopke's Quinta de São Luiz at Adorigo in Tabuaço sits on the left bank near Pinhão and offers a vineyard tour of 1 hour 15 minutes with 5 tastings. Ask the quinta for the price when you book. If you only see Gaia in Porto, the Casa Kopke shop at Avenida Diogo Leite 312 pours over 30 wines by the glass daily 10:00 to 19:00.
Quinta Do Vesúvio
Quinta do Vesúvio near Numão in the Douro Superior is the far east of this map and not a casual drop-in from Pinhão. The estate experience costs €500 per person for 2 to 4 guests and €450 for 5 to 10, with children at €50. The day runs about 6 hours from 10:00 to 16:00 with a jeep vineyard tour, 2 Douro DOC wines, 3 Vintage Ports and lunch on the balcony.
It runs only from 1 May to 31 October, needs 7 days notice, books on +351 223 776 300, and the jeep tour does not suit children under 12.
Favaios: Museum, Cooperative and Avessada
Favaios sits on a plateau around 600 m above the river valley, so it needs a car or a tour from Pinhão. The Bread and Wine Museum on Rua Direita is open daily 09:30 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 17:30, closed on Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Good Friday and Easter Sunday, and a secondary listing prices the ticket at €2 with a free wine tasting, which the municipality does not confirm. The Adega Cooperativa de Favaios opens daily 09:00 to 12:30 and 14:00 to 19:00 in summer, with visits from about €10 according to secondary listings and combo tickets with the museum.
Quinta da Avessada runs the Enoteca Douro with commented tastings of Ruby, Tawny and Moscatel.
Quinta Do Portal, Pégo and Gricha
Quinta do Portal on the EN 323 at Celeirós in Sabrosa has a hotel called Casa das Pipas and a restaurant, and books on +351 968 120 127. Its own site lists no price table, so ask when you book. Quinta do Pégo at Valença do Douro offers a €15 Classic Tasting of 3 wines and a €25 Commented Tasting of 4 wines for 2 to 20 people, plus a 10-room hotel.
Churchill's Quinta da Gricha at Ervedosa do Douro offers a €75 Gricha Terroir tasting with a vineyard and 1852 granite lagar visit.
The Tua Line East
The map thins out toward Tua, where the narrow gauge Linha do Tua opened in 1887 and closed in 2018 after 133.8 km, the longest of the lines north of the Douro. The Tua valley lies in the Alto Douro Vinhateiro between the Pinhão river valley and Carrazeda de Ansiães. A marked walking route follows the old line from Tua station to Brunheda, 22 km taking about 5 hours, which suits walkers more than wine tasters.
The 2 hour Pinhão to Tua rabelo cruise at €30 is the easy way to see this stretch.

Viewpoints on the Map
Viewpoints cost nothing and anchor the map between tastings. Three are worth pinning.
Casal De Loivos
The Casal de Loivos viewpoint hangs above Pinhão and is the most reachable pin on this map without a car. The drive is about 7 km and takes roughly 10 minutes on steep winding roads. On foot the routes measure 3.5 km by the cemetery path, with a loop of 6.64 km via the riverside or 7.61 km from the station, so budget 1 to 1.5 hours one way.
A small bar at the viewpoint sells wine by the glass, though whether it opens all year is not stated.
São Leonardo De Galafura
São Leonardo de Galafura sits about 18 km and 25 minutes by car from Peso da Régua at an altitude of 566 m. It is the viewpoint where the writer Miguel Torga described the Douro as an excess of nature. It pairs naturally with the Régua side of the map, since Vallado and the Solar do Vinho do Porto are both in Régua.
There is no entry fee stated for the miradouro itself.
São Salvador Do Mundo
The São Salvador do Mundo viewpoint at São João da Pesqueira stands at about 493 m with views over the Douro and the Valeira dam. It is the largest sanctuary in the Alto Douro Vinhateiro and sits beside the road from São João da Pesqueira to the Valeira dam. The town itself is about 20 km and 30 minutes by car from Pinhão, which places this pin on the eastern loop of the map alongside Vesúvio and Favaios.
Which Places Need a Car or a Tour
The honest split on this Douro Valley wineries map is station distance. Places near Pinhão and Régua stations work alone, everything on the plateau roads does not. The figures below come from the operator pages and the quinta sites cited above.
The Split at a Glance
If you have no car, base yourself on the walking cluster or take the train, and use the table below. If you would rather hand the driving and the booking to someone else, the pick on this site is the Complete Douro Valley Wine Tour from Porto with Lunch, Tastings and River Cruise at $113.53, which includes two estate visits with tastings and a 50-minute rabelo cruise from Pinhão. For a smaller group, the Douro Valley Premium Small-Group Tour from Porto at $194.96 caps at 8 guests and adds a cheese-paired Port tasting at Quinta da Roêda.

Questions About the Douro Valley Wineries Map
What are the best wineries to pin on a Douro Valley wineries map?
For walkability, pin Quinta do Bomfim, Quinta das Carvalhas and Quinta da Roêda around Pinhão, with tastings from €17 at Carvalhas and €20 at Roêda. For the Régua side, Quinta do Vallado opens daily 10:00 to 19:00 with tastings from €35. The full profiles sit in the guide to Douro Valley wineries.
What not to miss in the Douro Valley?
The Pinhão station azulejo panels, a tasting on the walking cluster, the Casal de Loivos viewpoint and one river cruise. A one hour rabelo trip from Pinhão to Romaneira costs €15. If you only have one day from Porto, a Douro Valley wine tour from Porto folds the quinta, the cruise and lunch into a single booking.
What is the nicest town in the Douro Valley?
For visitors without a car, Pinhão wins, because three quintas and the cruise jetty sit within walking distance of the station. Régua is the practical rail hub with the free-entry Solar do Vinho do Porto. Both towns are compared in the guide to Pinhão Douro Valley and the page on Peso da Régua.
What is the best time of year to follow this map?
Most tasting rooms run their longest hours from April to October, when Carvalhas stays open until 19:00 and the Vesúvio estate experience runs from 1 May to 31 October. Pinhão summer highs reach about 33°C, so start early. The tradeoffs by season are set out in best time to visit the Douro Valley.
How far is Pinhão from Régua on the map?
Pinhão is about 25 km east of Régua along the Douro, and the train covers the stretch as part of the Douro line. Parking in Pinhão fills quickly in summer, which is one more reason the rail-side pins on this map earn their place. The train logistics are explained in Porto to Douro Valley by train.
